By being 21 years and older in Washington with a valid ID, you are allowed to "purchase any combination of the following from a licensed retail marijuana store:
- One ounce of usable marijuana
- Sixteen ounces of marijuana-infused product in solid form
- Seventy-two ounces of marijuana-infused product in liquid form, or
- Seven grams of marijuana concentrate
You are not allowed to grow your own Cannabis. If you follow these two steps, your rights change.
Talk to your Doctor
Ask your primary care physician, specialist, or authorized medical professional if your symptoms or condition is approved in the State of Washington for medical Cannabis. Learn the Washington State Qualifying Conditions for Medical Cannabis.
Have your doctor fill out this Washington State Department of Health Medical "Marijuana" authorization form. Make sure it is on tamper resistant paper.
at this point you have kept your authorization between you and your medical professional. this authorization Does serve as an affirmative defense to criminal prosecution, but the state can not guarantee arrest protection if it is not aware of your status as a patient. You can
register in the database.
Then you will receive a recognition card that law enforcement can verify against a state database. The Card will also allow you to purchase High THC compliant products.
follow these steps to become a Washington State (RECOGNIZED and tracked) medical "Marijuana" patient.
find a medical store
Locate a state licensed retail Cannabis store that has a medical endorsement . You can call your local shop and ask if they have an endorsement, or use this list of medically endorsed cannabis stores.
visit and verify
Bring your original authorization on tamper proof paper and your Washington State ID to the medically endorsed retailer of your choice. Ask to speak with the medical Cannabis consultant. They will enter your information in the state database.
Your medical Cannabis authorization form does allow you to
"purchase or obtain at a retail outlet holding a medical marijuana endorsement a combination of the following: Forty-eight ounces of marijuana-infused product in solid form; three ounces of usable marijuana; two hundred sixteen ounces of marijuana-infused product in liquid form; or twenty-one grams of marijuana concentrates. The qualifying patient or designated provider may also grow, in his or her domicile, up to six plants for the personal medical use of the qualifying patient and possess up to eight ounces of usable marijuana produced from his or her plants. These amounts shall be specified on the recognition card that is issued to the qualifying patient or designated provider."
